“The details are not the details. They make the design”
April 28th 2011
Above is a picture I took yesterday of the Finished Room with Custom Cabinets by Mitchel Berman Cabinetmakers for the 2011 San Francisco Decorators Showcase House www.sfdecoratorsshowcase.org
Penthouse Bedroom, designed by Cathleen Gouveia Design www.gouveiadesign.com
You can see from the picture how beautiful everything looks, the combinations of color, texture and materials all working together to create a beautiful room.
The designer’s inspiration was Otis Redding’s song “Sittin on the Dock of the Bay” and she worked to combine colors and materials and textures to evoke a serene bayside feeling with expansive views to the San Francisco Bay thru the large windows, and the use of Drift Wood colors on our Bleached White Oak Cabinets, with custom Concrete Countertops and Base, the White Oak Floors and Hand Troweled Venetian Plaster Walls, a custom made Bend that is suspended from the ceiling on large Manila Ropes and carefully selected Art and accessories.
Already we have recieved Television coverage of the Showcase House and our work on Chanel 7 News:http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/video?id=8098293&pid=8098292
If you take a look at the earlier pictures on my blog you can see the path of Transformation that this Room has been through as we worked together to create a vision of Beauty and Serenity.
Above is a Work in Progress Photo of the San Francisco Decorators Showcase House, Penthouse Bedroom Cabinet that Mitchel Berman Cabinetmakers is making for Cathleen Gouveia’s room. www.cathleengouveia.com In this photo you can see the custom Concrete Counter top and Baseboard installed, the Venetian Plaster work in progress, and the hand waxed and rubbed “Driftwood Grey” finish on the cabinet we built.
In just about a week the room will be finished, furnished and ready to recieve the Public. Stay tuned for Final Photographs of the completed space.
We are working with Interior Designer Cathleen Gouveia http://gouveiadesign.com on the Penthouse Bedroom for the 2011 San Francisco Decorators Showcase House www.decoratorshowcase.org which will open April 29th at 2950 Vallejo Street in San Francisco. The room will be styled in a San Francisco Bay inspired combination of Rich Wood Tones, Grey and Driftwood colors, with a custom cabinet by Mitchel Berman Cabinetmakers in Quarter Sawn White Oak with a bleached and grey washed finish, custom hand cast concrete counter top and base, hand applied Venetian Plaster Walls, and other exciting special details. The photo above shows the cabinet just installed and awaiting the Concrete Tops and other finish work. Come back to the blog to see our progress on this exciting room.
Mitchel Berman Cabinetmakers designed and fabricated this Custom Family Room Cabinetry for a Sausalito, California, Victorian home. Our clients wanted to store a Stereo System and large Flat Screen TV Set. Rather than just leaving the TV set sitting on the Window Seat Mitchel Berman MFA, designed a custom “Slide Out Mechanism” for the Flat Screen TV set. In this way we could preserve the Beauty of the room with the TV set completely hidden.
Our Clients are delighted with the Beautiful results.
